Pilgrims Natural 10 Percent Mental Disorders


About 10 percent of the pilgrims who required hospitalization when pilgrimage suffering from psychosis or mental disorders are not detected early.

"The trend increase in the number of people with psychosis is not too much each year but there's always found every year," said Head of the Health Ministry of Health Haji Taufik Tjahjadi Kemenkes routine media conference here on Friday.

Psychosis become the type of disease hospitalizations in the fourth most pilgrims in Saudi Arabia in 2010 and then in the pre-Armina. The first most diseases are hypertension followed by diabetes mellitus and respiratory disease / pneumonia .

Head of Legal Bureau of the Ministry of Health Budi Sampurno revealed that in the Draft Regulation (RPP) on the implementation of the pilgrimage is not listed on the health requirements for those who will perform the pilgrimage.

"It's difficult because of our other ministries are also asked to not provide health requirements but only in terms of religion," he said.

Therefore, he also advocated for the pilgrims to come clean about her illness for easy handling by health officials.

Meanwhile, in order to detect early symptoms of psychosis, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health is preparing Collegiums Psychiatry quick examination procedures for prospective pilgrims.

"I hope can be done quickly and for not only doctors who could perform such treatment but also nurses and other health care," said Taufik.

Psychosis is a term used to describe someone who has broken up with reality, delusions and sometimes includes halunisasi. 

Some reasons that can trigger psychosis include brain tumors, dementia, epilepsy, bipolar disorder, psychotic depression, schizofrenia and stroke.

Symptoms that appear in the form of an unnatural emotion, confusion, depression and sometimes appears suicidal impulse, speaking irregular, experiencing delusions and illusions and hallucinations.

Related to the pilgrims, Taufik said the tension during the process of preparation and implementation of worship are often the cause of pilgrims have symptoms of psychosis that required hospitalization while in Saudi Arabia.

"There are also embracing certain ideas which then triggers this psychosis. Many are caused by anxiety because of the preparations before leaving for that cause tension," he said .*
