Hamas bans books and novels that Islamic Alluding


The Hamas government in Gaza has just banned the sale of two books written by Arab authors, which they declared "conflict" with Islam.

This is one of the latest policy group in Gaza, since they came to power in 2007. Earlier Hamas also forbids women from enjoying shisa (smoking pipes) and the banning of women on motorcycles.

Culture Ministry spokesman Ehab Senwar said on Monday that the books were banned after residents complained about its content. He said the books will not be sold until the committee to check the contents.

One of the books that, from an Egyptian Alaa al-Aswany's titled "Chicago" describes the life of Egyptian immigrants in the United States. Not yet known why it was banned if deemed offensive things, but the book has been criticized for its portrayal of a romantic relationship, unmarried couples, a kind of romance novels.

The other, 18-year-old book by a Syrian author, Haidar Haidar, entitled "A Feast for Seaweed" deemed to have blasphemed the Islamic world because in some parts contain phrases that describe God as a "failed artist" and the Prophet Muhammad as a womanizer.

The book looks at the failure of Arab revolusioneer movement in Iraq and Algeria after the Arab-Israeli war of 1967.

The books were eventually withdrawn all of the stores on Sunday.[Za / Canadian Press]
